Devil's Claw
Devil's Claw grows wild in the Kalahari Desert, a vast expanse of red sand located in the southernmost part of the African continent, at an altitude of 900 meters, home to the ancient nomadic Bushmen. It is a creeping herbaceous plant with red-purple flowers. The hooked fruits often accidentally get stuck on the paws of animals, who, trying to free themselves, thrash around furiously, as if possessed by the devil: hence its common name "Devil's Claw." The seeds are thus strategically dispersed, encouraging the plant's spread throughout the surrounding environment. Devil's Claw root was introduced to Europe in the early 1900s by a soldier who had observed its use in Namibia, a former German colony, and since then, scientific studies have confirmed its benefits for joint health and for maintaining natural flexibility and elasticity.
